All Creighton Baseball Academy Camps will take place at Creighton University Sports Complex or the Rasmussen Center.
CU Sports Complex
The Creighton Sports Complex, which includes the Kitty Gaughan Pavilion, is home to Bluejay baseball and softball. The facility opened in 1988 and was renovated in 2000, while the Kitty Gaughan Pavilion was completed and dedicated in 2001.
A $2.7 million renovation of the Creighton University Sports Complex has given the baseball and softball programs a new artificial surface for practice and competition plus a 15,000 square foot indoor complex complete with batting cages, locker rooms, an umpire’s room, athletic training facilities, staff offices, VIP viewing areas, storage and concessions.
In 2000, Jackie Gaughan generously supported the construction of CU’s baseball and softball indoor complex and he requested that the building be named in honor of his mother, Kitty. The Kitty Gaughan Pavilion was formally dedicated on October 27, 2001.
In addition to the construction of the Kitty Gaughan Pavilion, the CU Sports Complex’s 140,000 square feet of artificial turf was replaced with the SafePlay surface, the same turf used by the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys at Texas Stadium while all four dugouts – two for baseball and two for softball – were redesigned and relocated, giving both programs better use of space and more safety for the student-athletes.
In the summer of 2006, FieldTurf was put on the infield of the CU Sports Complex baseball field, other than the sliding pits around each base and the pitchers mound. The summer of 2006 also saw the softball field get new chairback seats as well as an enclosed press box facility.
